Mayo Creek Dam at Carolina Power and Light Coal-Fired Electric Generator Facility

This 3,000 foot-long earthen dam is 100 feet high and 500 feet thick at its base. Construction of this massive project required extensive rock excavation, a dedicated quarry operation to supply rip-rap and filter material, carefully controlled blasting, and expert grading.
