Ruffner Hall

Ruffner Hall is the central and most recognizable building on the Longwood University campus. The building, which is mainly academic classrooms, burned in April 2001. Ruffner Hall features columned porticos, a standing-seam metal roof, and it’s most prominent feature, a central rotunda that extends from the ground floor through the roof. Construction included a steel frame hidden behind an exterior brick veneer. The approximately 85,000 square-foot building is being re-constructed using modern materials but will be historically accurate to the original building exterior and rotunda area. Expected completion is 2004.
