Breaching begins at College Lake Dam
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ/LWR Release) – Lynchburg Water Resources (LWR) contractor W.C. English Construction began the continuous 24/7 operation of breaching the College Lake Dam Monday, according to the utility. The breaching of the dam will take at least five days, with construction crews set to working around the clock to complete the operation.
Drivers are asked to use caution driving through the area, as there is increased dump truck traffic near the entrance to the University of Lynchburg and the upper construction entrance before crossing the bridge. Drivers and residents are asked to expect additional noise from construction vehicles and lights shining to illuminate the immediate project area at the dam.
