Construction is not what we do…it's who we are.

Highlights

  • 6.5 miles of roadway widening
  • 600,000 CY excavation
  • Five Bridges
  • Completion Date: October 2016
  • Client: NCDOT

This project consists of 6.5 miles of widening on Freeway Drive creating two lanes in each direction with a raised median and multiple left turn lanes with extensive traffic control. The predominantly two-lane road will be upgraded to four lanes, along with major upgrades to the storm water, sewer, and water systems. There is over 600,000 CY of excavation, 8 box culvert extensions, five (5) bridges, utility work, signals, asphalt paving, 87,655 LF curb and gutter, 54,364 LF storm drainage and retaining walls.

Four intersections will be reconstructed under multiple phases to keep traffic flowing. This work will include five new bridges, MSE walls, shoring, retaining walls and traffic signalization along with the new roadway. The grading consists of 347,000 cubic yards of unclassified excavation and 287,000 cubic yards of borrow excavation. Controlled rock blasting is required due to the close proximity of existing structures.
